Lady in Red for Valentine’s Day

What is your plan for Valentine’s Day this year? As I am on a budget, it is important to find something special to do for my sweetheart that won’t break the bank. I remember several years ago, my son was still living at home and we had recently moved to California. As you can imagine, funds were tight but I still wanted to do something for Valentine’s Day.

On my way home from work, I stopped and picked up fast food, I think it was chicken. I also stopped and picked up two videos, one for my son and one that my husband had been wanting to see. I made a small bag of goodies for my son. My theory was that if he was occupied, me and my sweetie could have a little privacy. When I got home, my plan went into action and it was a wonderful and inexpensive Valentine’s Day.

As I always have some holiday décor around the house (I’ll have to do a blog about holiday decorations and reusing them), I will pull out my heart candle holders and Valentine’s napkins to make it a special occasion.

Sometimes you have to do a holiday dinner on a day that works with schedules. This year Valentine’s Day is on a Tuesday and my husband is out of town that day. This means I will be having a special dinner and movie on Sunday. This year I’m thinking of starting with Avocado & Shrimp Hearts* as an appetizer and a special drink called Lady in Red*. We will have steak for dinner (if it is on sale) as that is one of my husband’s favorite meals. No matter what the main course it will be accompanied with baked potatoes and a salad. This will be served with candles for that festive feel.
