Armoire to Bar

I was not successful yesterday.  In the morning we went to look at a camper shell for our truck.  We were not able to bring it home because the jacks did not work, it was on a frame and the gentleman was not there to show us his plan to get it on the truck. That killed the morning.  I wanted to do some mending  but that did not happen because my son and daughter-in-law came over to talk about buying the place when we got back home. We had a nice afternoon and they stayed for fried chicken & cauliflower for dinner. By the time they left it was 6 pm and I had no desire to do anything constructive.

This afternoon we are supposed to go back to pick up the camper shell if the repairs have been completed. In a way I hope it’s not done. But I know we need to get it to the house so Mac can start working on it for the animals to travel.

Since I found a picture of the armoire that Mac built back in 1997 or 1998, I thought I would show you how I converted it into a bar. The armoire was originally stained golden oak and used as a coat closet.

First I painted the exterior gray and used a sponge and hunter green paint to finish the outside.

Inside I painted the walls a light green with black shelves and trim.

We had a bar sign which we installed as well as 2 wine glass hangers.

We decided that mirrors would add extra brightness.

Mac found an old mirror and used it to cover the opening that used to be a drawer.

This is where we keep extra alcohol.

Finally Mac installed a rope light so the lower shelves weren’t so dark.  This turned out great and we can display our many glasses and alcohols.

Thread the Needle Day

Today I think I will thread the needle on my sewing machine. I haven’t been motivated lately but I need to do some mending and work on some projects. Today I will be fixing a dog bed, repairing some grocery bags and maybe even work on the denim seat for a wicker chair. The last time I worked on mending I got almost everything completed. Hopefully I will be just as successful today.

That being said I also need to work on my son’s birthday present. I will be doing a snack pack similar to the one I did for Fathers Day. I will be providing 4 seasonings with popcorn & potato chips. I think he will really like the gift as he does enjoy to cook and these seasonings can be made into a dip or a dressing for salad. I’ll try to share more later in the week.

Happy Monday!

Had a really long weekend of working.  13 hours on Saturday and 14 hours on Sunday.  A little tired but now 5 days off. Hooray!!!

Today I have taken out some chicken and hamburger from the freezer for 4th of July cooking. Also found some “Firecracker” Johnsonville Brats at the store.  They are limited edition but thought we should try them.  I will also be making a potato salad and maybe some deviled eggs, ice cream and a lemon blueberry spritzer with a kick.  I’ll see what I feel like cooking tomorrow.  What are your cooking the the 4th?

My plan for this week is to update my PayPal account and then set up my etsy shop for my hand crafts.  I also need to type up some great recipes for my recipe card box and save in my recipe folder on the computer.

I  hope to do some more mending.  Our lovely Max (10 month old pittie),

has chewed on a safety vest.

I will be adding a strap to the shoulder of our safety vests to attach our walkie talkies for when we are driving near each other. Hope I get this stuff done this week.  Have to set goals.  Don’t we?  Have a great week!
